FAQ
1. What is beta testing?
Beta testing is the development phase of a game before it is released. This is when the producers figure out what is good, what is not so good and how to make each game even better.
2. Which games will I get to test?
You’ll get to test all sorts of games, but mostly the kind of games you like best. That’s why we ask you what kind of games you like when you joined the Betagamer panel.
3. What do I get for taking part?
Good question. Betagamers doesn’t pay its members. We ask for volunteers who just love gaming so much that you want to be on the inside.
4. Who is Merscom?
Merscom is a global publisher of casual games. Our games include Righteous Kill, Blood Ties, Ghost in the Sheet, Time Stand Still, Remedy, Dairy Dash and East Side Story. You can learn more about us here.
5. How do I download the games?
You will receive an email from Betagamers, alerting you that a new game is available for testing. You’ll log into the site and get your key. Then install the game, input your key and start playing. We’ll ask you some questions before and after you play to find out what you think. It’s your feedback that will help us make better games.
6. Can I buy these games?
That’s the idea! Once the games are released, you’ll get to buy them.
7. What information are you collecting about me?
Once you install a game for testing, we’ll be able to capture some information about your play — things like how long you played and how far you got in the game.
8. Why can’t I talk about this?
These games are in beta phase and not for wide release. That means they’re still under wraps and in development, and we don’t want everyone to know about it. But you can tell people by getting them to join the Betagamers. Click here to tell a friend!
9. I’m on a Mac. Can I be a member?
Absolutely. Merscom develops games for the Macintosh, but not as many as we do for PC. So if you’re on a Mac, we want you. You might not see as many games, but we’re always trying to get more onto both platforms. |
